sony cybershot battery problem?

hi, I have a sony DSC v1 digital camera .. i misused the camera by taking pics and vids with the adapter charger plugged in .. so the camera now cant recognize the battery .. Because of the chip inside the battery that is broken or something...
I heard that this chip needs to be reset... i would like to know how many days or months does the battery needs to be stored unused to reset the chip... there is another method discharging the battery but that did int worked for me.
my digital camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-V1 ... It uses an infolithium battery pack .. .... The error msg is : " infolithium battery only"
