I have DSL for my desk top do i need to get wireless adapter &wireless router to hook up new dell laptop?

If you are wanting to go wireless for your laptop, then you will most likely only need to get a wireless router as most laptops already have wireless capability. If not, then a simple usb adapter is all that's needed. I suggest Linksys, but there are other brands that are just as good.

Also, some modems act as gateways (router), so double check to see if yours is or not because it would save you about $100. I only mention that because I went to my step-brother's pad to help him get his laptop and PS3 online and I discovered his cable modem was actually a modem/gateway combo unit.
