I have never been on a plane before what can you bring with you and what cant you bring?
I was told several things but I want to make sure it is all true.... I was told you can only have 3oz container of lotion, shampoo ect in your bag carry on but how about in the bag you check? Can we bring back wine? Were going to Cabo if that make a diffrence? Thank you in adavance
You are free to put anything in your CHECKED luggage and you can certainly bring back wine, but again, it must be in your checked baggage (and I cannot stress the importance of making sure the bottle is insulated - I have seen wine leaking from luggage bags on more than one occasion at airports). When I came back from Paris, I had three bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne packed in my checked luggage and I made sure to wrap each one thoroughly in clothing as a buffer. Worked out great! No broken bottles!
As for your carry-on, ALL of your liquid items (with few exceptions) must be able to fit in a standard zip-lock sandwich bag. If the bag is too large or not a zip lock bag, you will be asked to empty it and transfer the items to the appropriate bag (which airport security will provide). The cut off is generally at 3 ounces but you should verify with the particular airline that you're flying with. I once packed a small travel tube of toothpaste in my carryon that was confiscated for being too large, as well as a 3.5 ounce bottle of shampoo. I also had a small vial of honey from a hotel that was confiscated, and it fit in the bag! Some airports are very strict.
As for the exceptions: Prescription medication, breast milk, baby formula - these are permitted, regardless of size, although they will be inspected when you go through security. Again, verify with your particular airline's website. All of this information will be provided.
