condominiums sharing rooms student housing question!?

Hi basically, I want to live in 2 bedroom condo next year with 4 people (we don't really care if we sleep in the living room/share rooms) and I asked the condo owner if that's possible and they said no. Can they do that? Like I thought people in a relationship or siblings shared rooms all the time.

No he can not refuse to rent to students. However he can limit the number of people that may occupy the unit. Generally, two people per bedroom is the maximum for adults and children, infants generally are not counted.

If the condo is listed as FOR RENT, try reducing the number of people to 4 and see if he still refuses to rent. If so you may have the basis for a fair housing complaint.

You can test this by having some friends call about the condo and posing as a conventional family with father, mother, and 2 kids of the same sex.
