if a black man was left in the cold weather for 70 years, will he turn white?
they say, when blacks traveled out of africa, his skin eventually lost pigment and turned white due to lack of sun and cold weather.
so then, why doesnt a black person today turn pale white when left in the cold weather for about 50 years? go up to canada and see some black folks that have lived there for generations and their skin hasn't turned white!!
well, we all know islamic/muslim women have been covered from head to toe from the sunlight in their hijab dresses throughout the muslim/islamic world since the founding of islam, untill today that would be a few hundred years or more. yet their still BROWN!! not pale white!!
A persons skin doesn't "turn white" when the darker pigment is no longer helpful. Evolution is based on the fact that when offspring are born, if they have a mutation that helps them live long enough to pass on that mutation to their offspring (babies) then the mutation survives in the population. When dark skinned people traveled to parts of the world where lighter skin would help (can absorb sunlight to make vitamin D more easily in areas with less light or where they need to wear more clothing to protect against the cold), then those babies can live longer, or at least the lack of pigmentation is not a problem to survival. So the key is that the mutation that made you lose your pigmentation is not a problem so you live long enough to pass on the mutation in your genes to your children. These mutations built up over THOUSANDS of years and generations, not in just a few. EDIT: In answer to your questions re some women being covered - please check your religious history - all Muslim women have never been covered - only some practice this. Also, being darker skinned would not be an evolutionary disadvantage in modern times since we can all take vitamins to make up for vitamin D missed in our diets long before it kills us. To be a disadvantage you have to not be able to produce offspring to carry on your genes.
