Briefcase Bag

is it a bad idea to carry a laptop in a regular briefcase bag that is not designed for laptops if you have one
of those protective sleeves for the thing? is this pretty safe for the laptop?
If it's alot smaller than the briefcase and gets bashed about you do increase the chances of failure, especially to the hard drive (and your data stored on it)
I would seriously consider purchasing a cheap neoprene case that fits tight around the laptop so you can carry on using your favorite bag.
