Help on introducing a 3rd boy cat to my current 2 male cats?
On Sunday I re-homed what I believe is a male 4 year old cat.
I already had two male 4 year old cats and in the attempt to reduce conflict and stress levels I have kept them in seperate rooms so far...
They have seen each other through a glass panel and I have let them sniff each others litter trays and beds.
Last night I put the new cat in his carrier basket and tried to encourage my other two into the same room using treats - but they were not interested.
They seem more scared of each other and I have only heard one hiss when they accidentally almost came into close contact.
Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to help aid / reassure both parties.
Males (neutered) tend to bond quicker then females. As long as both are neutered, up to date on shots, and the new one has had a vet check up, then you could just let them see each other. Expect some hissing/growling, but usually in a week or so they will be playing together. Be sure all nails are trimmed.
