What is the best way to get to Cedar Point in Sandusky OH?

I live in DC and would like to go to Cedar Point. I think by amtrak, however, if I arrive at AM time are there cabs at that time? And one more thing, can I check in the Cedar Point hotels at that time? Btw, I'm open for suggestions.

Amtrak is a lousy way to go in this situation, if you value your time and your money. The Amtrak 29 Capitol Limited will take 11.75 hours there, and 12.25 hours returning, and cost you $128. Plus you will need transportation from the train station to Cedar Point (4.7 miles). You'd save on not having to pay parking at Cedar Point ($10).

If you travel by car, you will take only 7.25 hours to get there, 7.25 hours to get back, and spend about $90 on gasoline, in total. You'd have to pay parking ($10).
