HTC Phone Not Working?

I just got a HTC today, turned it on and it's great. It said in the instructions manual to take out the battery, peel off the film (which I presume is the black film with writing on it and now the battery is silver) and put it back in. I've put it back in, but now the phone is not working. I plugged everything in for the charger (plug, adapter) but it's not working.

you may have reinserted the battery wrongly ensure that the metal contact on the battery matches that with the phone, and not to worry once these contacts are unaffected the battery should work
