4 digit combination lock problems?

Hi, I have a 4 digit combination lock that looks just like one of these: http://www.copperbrasstraditions.com/images/pictures/samsonite-easy-dial-combination-lock-red-sm2097re.jpg
It has 4 wheel things with 10 digits on each one(0-9)
One day i was messing about with it and i have now forgot my combination (you can set your own). Is there any possible way to find out the combination or open it?
I have tried all possible possibilities, e.g year of birth etc. so i think that it must just be a random number.

Pull up on the loop and rotate the wheels one at a time. In many cases as you hit the right number, a change in resistance will be felt, or a slight movement of the loop will be experienced.
