Luggage....what to do?

In March I'll be going on my first flying out on my first business trip..about 3 days. I have no real luggage of my own, just dad's carry on from his one business trip and 3 hardshell vintage Samsonsite suitcases dad's mom purchased back in the 50s. I also have a folding luggage cart I used in college for hauling around my school books. I know the carry on is fine. ..but what about the vintage luggage? Will the airline (Continental) have a problem with the folding cart?
..and I can't really afford to purchase any new suitcases.

I'm not sure if there would be a problem, but i couldn't see why there would be. This sounds a little old-school, but you could ask for your parents to pitch in some money for new suitcases if you are worried. OR: you could go to tjmaxx or marshals & get just one piece of luggage for less then $100. i'm pretty sure that if you look hard, you can find some for cheap. good luck!
