how to remove chemical smell from luggage?
i was given a 4 piece hard shell luggage set for christmas, and i am still unable to remove the smell from them, kind of like a chemical smell... i have had them opened for a week airing out and i have tried 1/4 cup of bi carb soda for 4 days, and the smell still hasnt gone. i got away in 4 weeks and really dont want my clothes smelling like chemicals... anyone else had this problem? any suggestions on how to fix this will be really appreciated.
ewwww. I know that smell. Keeping them open is good. That odor is coming from the ingredients of the luggage, so you can't wipe it off or make it go off on its own. It has to gradually dissipate, but a week seems like a long time. Try contacting the manufacturer to see what they recommend. Also, I'd try rubbing them down with a solution of vinegar and water, maybe 1 part to 4 parts. It can't hurt. If the manufacturer isn't accessible, try one of the biggies, like Samsonite, and see what they say.
