is there a problem of breaking?
I have a 4 year old hitch mounted cargo carrier. Is there a problem of it breaking off with my cargoes on the freeway? I never overloaded it. It has about 300-500 lbs limit but i never loaded it more than 140 lbs. And there's no rust visible anywhere. that concern of breaking is always at the back of my head.
I'm not talking about a trailer. I'm talking about a HITCH MOUNTED CARGO CARRIER.
If it does, that is the reason for the safety chains which will keep the trailer straight and attached until you can get safely off the road.
Added: regardless of what is on the hitch, you need the safety chains. My answer stands.
