How to make ice cream at home without an ice cream maker?
I want to make ice cream but we don't have an ice cream maker. Is there a way to make ice cream without a machine?
Rum Coffee Ice cream (no ice cream maker needed)
Things you'll need:
saucepan
wooden spoon
wire whisk (or electric mixer)
large mixing bowls
measuring spoons
measuring cups
liquid measuring cup
Ingredients:
water 1/2 cup
sugar 1 cup (for syrup)
sugar 2 Tbsp. (for egg yolks)
egg yolks 10
rum 100 ml
instant coffee 4 Tbsp.
double cream 600 ml or whipped cream
Procedure:
If you want to use whipped cream you can skip step number 1;
1. Whip the cream until it's nice and fluffy. Cream whips easier when it's chilled. If your using an electrical appliance to whip the cream use the lowest setting. Otherwise you might end up with butter instead of whipped cream.
Leave the whipped cream in the chiller until you need it.
2. Place 1 cup sugar into a pan and add water. Stir and boil until thick and syrupy. A spoon dipped in and lifted up should see the sugar running off in thin threads.
3. In another mixing bowl whisk the egg yolks with the 2 Tbsp. sugar until its nice and frothy. Slowly add the syrup. Whisk until the ribbon stage or just before you get soft peaks.
4. Add coffee and rum.
5. Fold into the whipped cream.
6. Freeze.
