I'd like a good notebook backpack for a small notebook large enough to fit other items like lunch, books?

I have a small notebook (12-inch) and I need a backpack for it. I use a sleeve so I suppose even one fit up to 14-inch would be okay. Most sturdy bags ($50+) I've found are for large notebooks. Been looking at some like the Kensington Contour. However, these bags are huge and the notebook compartment would be too big. I also need room to put my lunch bag and textbooks. So any suggestions for a sturdy backpack for a small laptop but largish "other" compartment? I am tiny so I hate very bulky bags.

try looking at samsonite, if you don't find their backpack contours too manly. if you're lucky to find Trunk & Co, a subsidiary of Samsonite, they provide sling bags convertible to backpacks. slim cut quite nice, i am a biker and i like their old designs very much.

else, Crumpler, for the loud design and durability. since you mentioned you're a petite lady, i dun think you'll fancy looking at yourself carrying a crumpler backpack.
