Large Tote Bag

Longchamp Le Pliage medium or Large Tote Bag?
I'm not sure which size to get. I will use it as a purse/carry on while I'm overseas but also using it as a bag for the summer. I do carry a lot with me so I thought the large would be nice but after seeing pictures, It seems a big but the medium's strap is a big short.
i would recommend the large tote.
