Las Vegas Weekend
March 28th, 2008
Las Vegas weekend of 9/29/06?
Are there any big major (sporting or otherwise) events on in Vegas on this weekend?
It appears that most of the major conventions are ending on 9/29 (SGIA and Interbike). However, there's Mr. Olympia with 15,000 attendees 9/28-10/1 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Other than that, nothing major is happening in Las Vegas during that week.
Have fun

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas $11.99 Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the best chronicle of drug-soaked, addle-brained, rollicking good times ever committed to the printed page.  It is also the tale of a long weekend road trip that has gone down in the annals of American pop culture as one of the strangest journeys ever undertaken. Now this cult classic of gonzo journalism is a major motion picture from Universal, directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro. From the Trade Paperback edition. |

1981 Caesars Palace Grand Prix $58.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 1981 Caesars Palace Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on October 17, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The United States again hosted the final round of the Formula One season in 1981, but in Las Vegas, not at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Course in upstate New York. After twenty years on the GP schedule, the organizers at Watkins Glen were unable to fulfill financial obligations for 1980, and so a track was created on the grounds of the Caesars Palace hotel. The track provided speeds averaging over 100 mph, and with the counter-clockwise direction straining the drivers' necks unusually, it was clear the drivers' endurance would be tested in the extreme all weekend. Even in practice, Piquet suffered noticeably and became physically sick; he later got a 90-minute massage from Sugar Ray Leonard's masseur to help sort out his troubled back and "Las Vegas neck." |

Advantage Player $4.99 Meet the Advantage Player. An Advantage Player is one who has an Edge; a way to tilt the odds more into his favor than any casino would like if they realized what was actually going on. This Advantage Player's game is Blackjack, and you'll learn a lot about that mysterious world as you watch his visit to the casino unfold. He's in Las Vegas for a long weekend intending to score enough money for his next several month's expenses, while remaining under the radar of those who are on the prowl for players exactly like him. But this trip to this casino puts him squarely on a collision course with Lady's Night as well. That night of the week when college-age women put on their fancy dresses and come to the casino looking for the excitement of coaxing the free-spending male gamblers into throwing a few big chips their way for some free gambling. Vicky is on her first Lady's Night with her two much more experienced friends. She's worried about the whole idea because she doesn't know what might be expected of her in return for these "favors" she's about to request. While she soon finds out that this particular Advantage Player knows a secret or two in gaining his way with the fairer sex as well, things soon turn into something far more magical than either of them ever could have ever imagined. This is a tale that the big casinos can only hope is fiction. |

An Ember Of Hope $12.95 Amy Oberg was living a seemingly invincible life. When tragedy strikes, an undiscovered void appears, and her emptiness hits rock bottom. Her journey through the depths of anger, betrayal and guilt leave her with only one ember of hope. She was a typical bulletproof kid who was living life on a whim. She had a childhood that most kids dream of; her parents loved her around the clock. They were always there to back her up or bail her out with time, support or money. With a solid foundation, she never realized that something was actually forever. She had always been able to fix things no matter what-there was no life sentence, just a way for it to be "over." It was bliss. Vulnerability didn't get set into motion until she was nineteen years old. On a fairly decent path in life, tragedy struck. She instantly became a statistic-that would or wouldn't last forever. An Ember of Hope will challenge your heart to be open to the Creator. It will make you laugh, cry, think and love.About the Author: Amy Oberg has been married for over eight years and is delighted to stay home as a wife and mother. Her daughter, Emma Lee, is a bright eight-year-old hoping to write a book with her mom about blended families. Amy started a women's small group called GIFT, Girls In Fellowship Together, helping young women traverse maturity in God. Amy is a singer/songwriter with a passion for worship. She loves the production industry and serves as a weekend service producer for church. Amy and her husband, Dennis, currently lead and host a couples small group in their home. Bash: Latterday Plays $14.95 A trio of brilliantly scathing plays by the renowned writer-director of In the Company of Men and Your Friends and Neighbors. With the success of his first two films, In The Company of Men and Your Friends and Neighbors, writer-director Neil LaBute has been hailed as a first-rate dramatic talent with a caustic wit reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick. bash—a collection of three stunning one-act plays that mark LaBute's return to the New York stage after ten years—forms a trio of unforgettable personal accounts: in Medea Redux, a woman tells of her complex and ultimately tragic relationship with her grade school English teacher; in Iphigenia in Orem, a Utah businessman confides in a stranger in a Las Vegas hotel room, confessing a most chilling crime; and in A Gaggle of Saints, a young Mormon couple separately recounts the violent events of an anniversary weekend in New York City. All three are unblinking portraits of the complexities of evil in everyday life, exhibiting LaBute's signature raw lyrical intensity."The most important playwright to emerge in a decade." — John Lahr, The New Yorker"A transfixing evening." — Ben Brantley, The New York Times Neil LaBute is a playwright and filmmaker whose plays include Filthy Talk for Troubled Times, Sanguinarians & Sycophants, Rounder, and Ravages, along with adaptations of Woyzeck and Dracula. Beautiful Children: A Novel $25 One Saturday night in Las Vegas, twelve-year-old Newell Ewing goes out with a friend and doesn’t come home. In the aftermath of his disappearance, his mother, Lorraine, makes daily pilgrimages to her son’s room and tortures herself with memories.
