where is the best hotel/motel in/near Branson, Missouri?

My husband and I plan to visit the Branson, Missouri area in October and would like a moderately priced hotel not far from restaurants and attractions in the area, but also kind of secluded. Any suggestions?

Katie ...

Yes, don't stay in a hotel in Branson -- stay at a Branson vacation rental. You'll be in a great place, and save some money in the process. For example:

http://bit.ly/BransonVacationRentals

Note that you can choose from a Studio, to 1 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 4+ bedrooms, etc. Or you may have noticed that there's a golf course or two in Branson -- find a Branson house on the golf course. Or near the attractions, by the Branson Silver Dollar City, with jacuzzi's, hot tubs, screened porches, pools, pet-friendly, with WIFI, secluded, condos, etc. The list goes on and on.

Good luck, and I hope that helps.

Missouri is a state in the Midwest region of the United States bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Missouri is the 18th most populous state with a 2008 estimated population of 5,911,605. It comprises 114 counties and one independent city. Missouris capital is Jefferson City. The four largest urban areas are Columbia, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springfield.Missouri was originally acquired from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase and became defined as the Missouri Territory. Part of the Missouri Territory was admitted into the union as the 24th state in August 10, 1821.Missouri mirrors the demographic, economic and political makeup of the nation with a mix of urban and rural culture. It has long been considered a political bellwether state. With the exception of 1956 and 2008, Missouris results in U.S. presidential elections have accurately predicted the next President of the United States in every election since 1904. It has both Midwestern and Southern cultural influences, reflecting its history as a border state. It is also a transition between the eastern and western United States, as St. Louis is often called the westernmost eastern city and Kansas City the eastern most western city. Missouris geography is highly varied. The northern part of the state lies in dissected till plains while the southern part lies in the Ozark Mountains a (dissected plateau), with the Missouri River dividing the two. The confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers is located near St. Louis. When Flower Shop owner Bretta Solomon leaves her hometown of River City, Missouri, and heads for a florist convention in Branson, she's surprised to find a letter from Vincent and Mabel McDuffy slipped under her hotel room door, begging for help. The McDuffys seem to know of Bretta's success as an amateur sleuth around River City, and that, coupled with their admiration for Bretta's late husband, a police officer, has inspired them to ask Bretta to find out what happened to their daughter, who died of a heart attack a few months ago. The trouble is, Bretta can't find the McDuffys-after leaving her several messages at the hotel, they seem to have vanished. And although she's curious to track them down and find out exactly what they want her to do, she's got her hands full already running the design contest at the annual florist convention, coping with back-stabbing competitors and suspicious colleagues. Once again, Janis Harrison's likable and enterprising sleuth, Bretta Solomon, unearths a murderer in the unlikeliest of places. Combining a traditional puzzle with a delightful gardening backdrop, this charming mystery distinguishes a series that continues to bloom. Author Biography: With the Bretta Solomon series, which includes Roots of Murder and Murder Sets Seed, Janis Harrison has combined her career as a florist with her love of writing. She and her husband live near Windsor, Missouri, where they operate their own greenhouse business.

It was the first Interstate Highway project in the United States. I-70 approximately traces the path of U.S. Route 40 (and also the old National Road) east of the Rocky Mountains. West of the Rockies, the route of I-70 was derived from multiple sources. The construction of I-70 in Colorado and Utah is considered an engineering marvel as the route passes through the Eisenhower Tunnel, Glenwood Canyon, and the San Rafael Swell. The Eisenhower Tunnel is the highest point along the Interstate Highway system with an elevation of 11,158 ft (3,401 m). The sections of the interstate in Missouri and Kansas have laid claim to be the first interstate in the United States. Though disputed, the Federal Highway Administration has claimed the section of I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, completed in 1992, was the last piece of the Interstate Highway system, as originally planned, to open to traffic. Interstate 70 begins at an interchange with Interstate 15 near Cove Fort. Heading east, I-70 crosses between the Tushar and Pahvant ranges via Clear Creek Canyon and descends into the Sevier Valley where I-70 serves Richfield, the only town of more than a few hundred people along I-70's path in Utah. Upon leaving the valley near Salina I-70 crosses 7,923 ft (2,415 m) Salina Summit and then crosses a massive geologic formation called the San Rafael Swell. Prior to I-70's construction the swell was relatively undiscovered and inaccessible via paved roads. Once this 108 mi (174 km)

 You Have Me

You Have Me

$15.99

You Have Me is the inspiring, Christian memoir of an average man, who while being buffeted by the storms of life, runs head-long into the power and very presence of Almighty God. Through these pages the author reveals one man's testimony of the faithfulness of our Lord. It shows that God is truly not a respecter of persons but desires to use His children, who will be obedient to Him, in fulfilling His mysterious and eternal purposes. This is not a book about Bible theology or interpretation. But rather, it is a lifetime account of one man's trials and misfortunes. By reading of his grief, passion and subsequent victories, one can take hope in his/her own life that God is readily accessible and holds the answers to all of life's problems for those who will call upon Him.The writer grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and after high school moved with his family to Springfield. He graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Psychology and Business Administration. His first job was with a hometown bank and after graduation moved into industry. After 18 years in business he felt a call on his life to fulfill a season of service for a national children's institute and later as business manager for a large church and Christian school. He is currently president of a non-profit agency called Christian Senior Ministries and is an administrator with the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, supervising six area senior centers. Larry lives with his wife, Carmen, at Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri. The highlights of their lives are the many children and grandchildren who come to the lake to visit.
