Failed LRAND test using Windows Memory Diagnostic on newly installed memory: Do you know what this means?

I replaced a single 512MB PC2700 module with two 1GB PC3200 (Patriot memory with excellent customer reviews) modules, downloaded Microsoft's memory test and found that it consistently failed 1 of 6 tests:
LRAND, which writes randomly to all parts of memory.
The computer seems to work well otherwise, is friskier, and recognizes the new 2GB of memory.
Expected vs actual values in the failed LRAND test were consistently off by the first digit by one number.
What are your thoughts on this?
Should I be happy with the performance I get in a photo editor after trying to break it with 112MB stitch? Or return the modules?
Newegg gave the PC3200 as appropriate for the PC2700 specs, but I can easilly obtain PC2700 memory.
Is there another memory test you might recommend? Or is a fail on Microsofts a "no-go?"

it may be that you board really doesn't handle the pc400 memory. better check those specs for the board. i have seen memory that isn't supposed to work, actually work in different towers and also 2 different buss speed working when they are'nt supposed to work.
