Why does my electric toothbrush pop out of the 2-pin plug adapter?

I have an electric toothbrush, and the charger has the 2-pin connector like an electric shaver. I bought an adapter that coverts it into a normal 3-pin plug, but when I plug the 2-pins into the adapter they just spring back out and won't stay in. Does this represent a problem with the adapter? Or are there different ones for different appliances? I assumed any adapter that converted 2-pin to 3-pin would work, and it's certainly the right size for the pins to fit into, they just spring back out.

Those adapters are pretty much the same.Try spreading the prongs on the charger,BUT, not too much. That usualy resolves the problem for me.
