is it allowed to use a german made electric strainer waste, to combine a two pin plug under my kitchen sink?
i have a waste which has two telephone type connectors benath the waste itself. One lead goes to the electric waste btton and one goes to a two pin plug which will then need to be put into a plug adaptor. I have doubts that this should be allowed on a permenant basis.
If your waste disposal unit runs from 230V 50Hz AND is also Double Insulated then you can connect it to the Live and Neutral pins of an ordinary 13 Amp plug.
If it is NOT Double Insulated then you MUST connect the Earth pin too.
Double insulated devices are indicated either by clearly stating "Double Insulated" and it may also have a symbol looking like two squares - one of them is inside the other.
If it is not double insulated and does not have an earth lead then you should not use it because it could be dangerous.
Check the wires coming from the unit: Brown = Live, Blue = Neutral, Green/Yellow striped = Earth.
You must not install a continental type 2 pin socket under your sink. With all electrical devices the rule applies - "if in doubt, don't do it".
