Removable Laptop

Removable laptop tray.?
On the bottom left side of my Inspiron 1520 Dell laptop there is a removable tray that has two random shaped holes in it. It is removed by pushing the eject button, the button pops out, then you push the button back in and the tray pops out.
I have no idea what the tray is for.
Please Advise.
It's the PC Card Slot. If you have an internet card, that's where you insert it.
