Rental October
Should I tell my landlord that I will soon be unemployed?
I have been with my employer for over 11 years and moved into this new rental October 2009. He is a very nice man and understanding to boot! My employer is filing bankruptcy and will be shutting their doors very soon. Is it wise to give my landlord a heads up? I have been looking for a new job diligently for almost a year with no luck and don't know how long it will be before I find something.
If you are a landlord what are your thoughts?
I wouldn't. There is no reason to do this.
You will most likely get severats pay.
And if you worked there over 10 years - this could be months and months worth of pay.
Plus, you will be getting unemployment benefits after your sevrants pay is paid off.
Chances are you will find another job by October when your lease is expired.

''Wall of blood'': The Baltic German case study in National Socialist wartime population policy, 1939--1945. $49.99 This study begins with Hitler's Reichstag Speech on 6 October 1939 in which he famously called the Baltic Germans 'Heim ins Reich,' focuses on their agonizing choice to resettle and on their wartime experiences, and ends with some reflections about the notion of Heimat for the Baltic Germans and their descendents today. It is based on research conducted in three archives: the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, Maryland (NARA II), the Bundesarchiv-Berlin (BAB), and the Lastenausgleichsarchiv-Bayreuth (LAA). These archives hold, respectively, the records of the Reichskommissariat fur die Festigung deutschen Volkstums (RKFDV), the records of the Einwandererzentralstelle (EWZ), and postwar interviews with Baltic German participants in the resettlement.;As the resettlement of the Baltic Germans was the only operation of its sort completed by National Socialist Germany, this case study can illuminate relations between Reich authority and the recipients of its ideological favor. The SS resettlement apparatus and its ideological aims remained constant in the face of changing wartime circumstances. What were the attitudes of the Baltic Germans, their goals, feelings, frustrations, worries, and aspirations, in the face of extraordinary circumstances? The goal of this study is to render the Baltic Germans as human beings and to examine their experience within the context of mass population transfer, SS bureaucracy, ideological war, and multi-dimensional ethnic tensions. |

Acoustic ranging in a dynamic, multipath environment. $49.99 An acoustic experiment was carried out in October 2007 in Portsmouth Harbor, New Hampshire, to measure the effects of environmental variability on acoustic range measurements over a distance of 948 meters. A fixed source and receiver measured the one-way travel time and signal level fluctuations over four days. Wind, sound speed, tidal data, and current speed predictions were used to assess their effects on the acoustic measurements. The environmental data collected during this experiment showed variability at many scales, both temporally and spatially throughout the harbor. The acoustic data revealed the presence of multipath arrivals, with 2-3 strong arrivals for each transmitted ping. A simple geometric model was used, along with ray-tracing, to describe fluctuations in arrival time and signal level. Acoustic travel times between a fixed source and receiver were converted to range measurements and compared with GPS-derived ranges. This study provides a basis for understanding the capabilities and limitations of acoustic travel time measurements in Portsmouth Harbor, or similar dynamic multipath environments. Results showed an overall spread in range of between five and eight meters over the total range of 948 meters, with greater precision and accuracy possible with additional processing. |

They also bought every Blockbuster franchise they could get their hands on (removing pornographic movies). The company became a multi-billion dollar company and was sold to Viacom for a price of $8.4 billion. Chapters: Park Inn Hotel, Randolph Hotel (Des Moines, Iowa), Hotel Julien Dubuque, Heartland Inn, Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, Lenox Hotel (Lenox, Iowa), Hotel Tallcorn, Midway Hotels. Excerpt: Park Inn Hotel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Wrights drawings of the bank and hotel are dated from as early as December 17, 1908. Construction was begun on the first of April 1909, with supervision by Wright until his departure for Europe in late October of that year. At that time William Drummond from Wrights Oak Park Studio in Oak Park, Illinois took over the supervision of its construction and designed a nearby Prairie style home during his visits. The law office of developer-owners Blythe and Markley was open for business on August 29, 1910, with the gala opening of the entire structure September 10 of that year. Wright returned to the Midwest from his year in Europe in October 1910. Unfortunately for the Park Inn Hotel, a new 250-room hotel with all the latest amenities was constructed in Mason City in 1922, creating stiff competition for the Park Inn Hotel. In addition, the farm crisis led to the closing of the City National Bank when was merged into another local bank. By 1925, four of the five banks in Mason City had failed. In 1926, the City National Bank building was sold separately and underwent an unsympathetic remodeling into a new commercial use in that year. The upper floors of the Park Inn Hotel were eventually subdivided into rental apartments and over time the unique Prairie School design elements such as stained glass skylights, fixtures, furniture and woodwork were removed or lost. For the next several decades, the Park Inn experienced a gradual decline that ended with its closure in 1972. The Park Inn Hotel is currently undergo... More: |

Information technology and rural market performance in central India. $49.99 How do improvements in information impact market performance? This dissertation examines the effect of an innovative initiative launched by a private company in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Beginning in October 2000, it set up 1700 Internet kiosks and 45 warehouses that provide wholesale price information and an alternative marketing channel to soybean farmers in the state. I develop a theoretical model of this intervention and estimate the impact using a new market-level dataset with spatial geo-coded information. The causal effect is isolated by exploiting the variation in the timing of the introduction of kiosks and warehouses across districts of the state. The estimates suggest an immediate and significant increase in the monthly wholesale market price of soybeans after the introduction of kiosks, lending support to the predictions of the theoretical model. While the presence of warehouses appears to have no effect on price, warehouses are associated with a dramatic reduction in the volume of sales in the traditional markets. Moreover, there is a significant increase in the area under soy cultivation. The estimates are robust to disaggregated measures of treatment and comparisons with alternative crops grown in the same season as soy. The analysis suggests that information can substantially enhance the functioning of rural markets by increasing the competitiveness of buyers. |

Intentional discipleship through small group ministry at Union Village United Methodist Church. $49.99 This project was an attempt to explore questions such as "Where is the transformation?" "Are the members of the church disciples of Christ?" "Why is the church ineffective in making disciples?" And "What is the solution?" exposing why the church is not effective in making disciples and seeking to find ways to facilitate a disciple making process so that the church can once again be a place of vitality where people grow in their faith in tangible ways and be disciples of Christ. Intentional discipleship through small group ministry is the means through which this project tried to facilitate disciple-making process in the Union Village United Methodist Church. The scope of this Doctor of Ministry Project was to design and implement small group ministry to practice intentional discipleship that included practices of seven spiritual disciplines: accountability, worship, fellowship, mission, reading and study of scripture, stewardship and prayer. The candidate and the Lay Advisory Committee did the design of the small group during October through December of 2007. The implementation phase began as one small group of 6 people started meeting for ten weeks in January of 2008 adhering to the design. At the end of the ten weeks, participants of the small group gave evaluations on the effectiveness of the small group design by reflecting on the effect of the small group ministry on their discipleship personally and as a small group. This project showed that when one practiced the spiritual disciplines intentionally, and in a regimented way, the result was growth in spiritual maturity as disciple of Christ. Intentional discipleship through small group ministry is one way to aid believers and nonbelievers to experience God in their lives and support them in their journey of becoming the disciples of Christ. Union Village United Methodist Church now has a renewed sense of hope and vision because of the small group of disciples who are |
