In the book The Road Back by Erich Maria Remarque, is there a character named Tjaden that survives WW 1?
Is Tjaden a school teacher?
Does he have a different name?
Yes Tjaden is a school teacher in that book, I think in Alls Quiet he was a locksmith. He was the guy who really hated Himmelstoss with a passion.
I don't have The Road Back here, but Tjaden was the guy who ate like a pig and stayed thin in All Quiet. If I remember right, in The Road Back, he becomes the school teacher who's goal is to dine well. The one that the narrator goes to visit. Check the part where he decides he can't stand the boredom of being a country teacher, as Tjaden has settled into that life. I can't remember if he stays thin, I may remember him getting fat at it.

True, it's similar to his last, which balanced new-school gangsta tracks ("The Professional," "Make a Move") with a couple that question the inevitable trappings that come with success ("Fame," "One More Road to Cross"). And the productions by Swizz Beats, P. Killer Trackz, and Shok -- all part of Ruff Ryder Productions, Inc. -- are heavily synthesized and occasionally melodramatic, just like both of his previous albums. Even when Swizz Beats' usually reliable productions fall through, DMX brings it all back with his tough rhymes and inventive wordplay.
