new iPod says i need to restore factory settings in order to use it?
so i thought ok and pressed the button on itunes that resotes factory settings - then it said i need to plug it in with the wall socket plug thing so i did - how long do i wait for it to finnish the restore process?
i got it online (its not new) its 20gb and i was wondering why it wouldnt work in the first place.

I don't recall the 20GB iPods (those must be the older 2nd or 3rd generations).
Anyways back during those days iPods had to be formated for either windows or mac. So if it was previously formated for mac and you're on a windows machine it would need to be restored.
Also since iTunes doesn't allow new owners to access the content of the previous owner, a restore is mandatory to erase the old content before you can use it. (in order to prevent piracy).
