Is it illegal to bring a suitcase/safe full of money on a plane?
So basically, I have to move to California, but there might be a problem.
I've had this diversion safe ever since I was little. It's full of money and it was created to look like a dictionary.
So if I take my stuff on a plane, would they think it's suspicious and think i'm up to something? I mean it's just money so I'm guessing it doesn't matter. They might think the money is for some drug deal or something, like in the movies lol
No, it is NOT illegal.
There are NO restrictions in the amount. The ONLY issue is that for an _international_ flight, you must fill out a form and give it to US customs if you carry over $10,000. That is the only rule, and it is only if you are going out of the country, or coming into the country.
If you are talking about the amount of money that can fit inside something the size of a dictionary, there is no problem at all. The TSA people will, of course, see the money - whatever it looks like on an x-ray image - but that is not something they will be concerned about. I am sure that they see money in carry on baggage all the time.
There is, however, a lot to be said for using a bank to transfer that money so that you do not take the risk of losing it. That is what I would do, personally, rather than take it all with me.
