How much is a membership at Thousand Trails campgrounds?
Does anyone know what the membership price is for the Thousand Trails campgrounds? They are giving me the run around about pricing and insisting I attend a presentation in another state. Any ideas on what the yearly membership is, before I commit to an out of state trip?
Lacking better judgement, my wife & I purchased a membership in Thousand Trails, the Orlando, Florida resort, in April of this year. We normally have a place to stay when we aren't traveling, but it may go away so we needed something else.
The membership fees vary from resort to resort and depending how aggressive the sales staff is. They start at $16,000 before they start lowering the price for things you have no use for. They have some pretty nice park models you can stay in one week a year that they will take $5,000 off the price if you tell them you don't want to stay in them.
We just sat there and kept telling them the price was too high and they kept giving discounts for any and everything you can think of. We got a discount for belonging to AARP, my being a veteran, being a presidents club member at Camping World. I even got $500 of for having gone to jump school at Ft. Campbell.
Your final price should be between $5,500 & $6,000. First years maintenance fees, just like a time share, will be around $450. They should offer to pay the sales tax also. Just play dumb and try to get them to throw everything in you can.
